We’ve been doing all sorts of Halloween crafts this week, and I’ve decided to switch things up a bit and create a fun Halloween Sensory bin for the kids.
Sensory bins are a huge hit in our house. My kids absolutely love when I create them and it keeps them busy for quite a while, which is amazing for busy moms. When it comes to sensory bins, I try to keep them simple and collect things around the house and add a few new things here and there. Sensory bins are super easy to set up and this Halloween-themed one took me about 5 minutes total. You can use any filler that you want, such as corn, black beans, rice or chickpeas.
This post is all about how to make a Halloween Sensory Bin for kids in a few easy steps.
How to make a Halloween Sensory Bin
First up, we need to gather all of the supplies. If you are a big Halloween enthusiast, I’m sure you have most of these things already on hand. If not, you can find really cute and cheap Halloween supplies at the Target dollar section or a local dollar store. I’ve had the black beans at home and only bought a few items at that dollar store, that cost me around $5.
What you need:
- Bin/container (I got ours at Home Depot)
- 16 oz Bag of Black Beans (or any other filler)
- Scooping tools (I used measuring cups)
- Halloween props (spiders, bones, pumpkins,…)
I’ve actually had enough black beans on hand to fill the bottom of the plastic bin, but you could also use corn, dried chickpeas, lentils, or rice.
After you’ve filled in the base, add any spooky fillings you want. I found the bones, the spider, and little pumpkins at the dollar store. They have a ton of different Halloween items and you can get creative here.
Don’t forget a scooping tool, so the kids can scoop the filling and have fun with it.
Wasn’t this such a fun and easy Halloween Activity Idea?! I hope your kids will enjoy this Halloween Sensory bin as much as my kids did!
