Making Gingerbread houses are part of Christmas just like decorating the tree. If you are looking for an easy no-bake Gingerbread House recipe, that you can make with little ones as well, these cute Cookie Houses are for you.
My kids love decorating a Gingerbread House each year. We usually just buy one that you only have to assemble and decorate. This year I decided to switch it up and have the kids each make their own little Gingerbread House, except this time we made them out of Butter cookies.
The great thing is that these little cookie Houses don’t require any baking. The only thing that takes a few minutes to prepare is the icing. You can buy whatever candy or sprinkles you want to decorate the Gingerbread Houses. We ended up making quite a few houses and now have a little Gingerbread House village that the kids love playing with.
This post is all about an easy no-bake Gingerbread House.
Easy No-Bake Gingerbread House
What you need:
- Cookies
- Sprinkles, Candy,…
- Knife
- Powdered Sugar
- Cream of Tartar
- Egg Whites
- Piping Bag or Zip Lock Bag
- OR Already Made Icing
If you want to make your own icing, here is the recipe I used and if you want to just buy the Icing, Target has great Gingerbread Icing, that will hold everything together.
Once you have gathered all the ingredients, we can get started with the first and hardest part:
- First, we have to cut the cookie pieces into the right form.
- Lay one cookie upfront and cut off the two top corners. The cookie might break, but you can just use a new cookie until you get the perfect shape.
- To make the sides, cut the cookie into two pieces.
- Two cookies are needed for the roof, and they don’t need any cutting.
5. Now connect all the pieces with the Icing and wait a few minutes for the icing to get harder.
6. And last but not least: the Decorating and most fun part! Get creative when adding Sprinkles, colorful candy, or other colored Icing.
Now wasn’t this the easiest Gingerbread House recipe ever!? We’ll be making more of these cute little Houses this Holiday season.
