If you are looking for a fun and easy St. Patrick’s Day Craft for Preschoolers or toddlers, this DIY Rainbow Necklace will be a fun craft idea for your little ones. It’s a great activity that will help with fine motor skills and identifying different colors to build a rainbow.
St. Patrick’s Day is such a fun Holiday and my kids look forward to making fun arts and crafts projects at home. They are most excited when the craft idea I come up with involves a treat LOL. My four and two year old really enjoyed making their necklaces and eating a bowl of colorful cereal afterward.
There are a couple of things you need to gather to make these fun Rainbow necklaces, but you can find most of them at a craft or grocery store.
This post is all about a St. Patricks Day Craft for Preschoolers.
Fun St. Patrick’s Day Craft for Preschoolers
What you need:
- Froot Loops Cereal
- Gold Chocolate Coin
- Twine or Yarn
- Hot Glue Gun
- Tape
- Pipe Cleaners
- Bowls
- Wire Trimmers
The first step is to have your child separate the cereal by colors by adding them into the different bowls.
Cut your twine or yarn into a 25-30 inch piece, or long enough to be a necklace. Take one end of the twine and tape a small piece around it, to make it easier for the cereal to slide through.
Now take the other end of the twine and tie a knot big enough, so the fruit loops won’t fall through.
Your child can now start decorating its necklace by threading the fruit loops onto the string.
Once they are done making their rainbow necklace cut a small piece of the pipe cleaner. You want to fold it over to make a loop and glue it using the hot glue gun, onto the back of the chocolate coin.
Slip the chocolate coin over the necklace and place it at the center and tie off the ends into a knot.
My Preschooler and toddler both had a ton of fun making their St. Patricks Day Necklaces (and eating the chocolate coins and fruit loops afterward lol).
